Long since gone, but I've heard of one made by Gear Vendors. Problem with a C-3 is the driveshaft is so short there just is not much room lengthwise, and the tunnel is pretty small aft of the trans.
The name also changed from TH400 to 3L80 in 1990. The name 3L80 comes from 3-speeds, longtiudinally positioned, and 8,000lbs Gross Vehicle Weight. The name change was to help identify the transmissions better. The early 1990’s is also when we see the introduction of the 4L80-E, which is the successor of the TH400 that has overdrive. It is the weirdest set up I have seen. It bolts to the back of the th400 and has a switch in the car to shift to overdrive. He is thinking about taking it out.
